🏢 ZAKAT WELFARE FUND 🏢


◘ Since 2003, the Zakat Welfare Fund, managed by the Trust, has disbursed a total of BDT 90,653,783 (Nine Crore Six Lakh Fifty-Three Thousand Seven Hundred Eighty-Three) to health and other sectors.


Key activities supported by the fund include:

  • Distribution of fertilizers and seeds to marginal farmers; providing food and safety supplies to the underprivileged during the COVID-19 pandemic; supplying wheelchairs to physically disabled individuals; distributing freshly cooked semai (vermicelli) to disadvantaged street children on Eid-ul-Fitr mornings; providing winter clothing to homeless people affected by cold weather.
  • Assistance to helpless patients through medical supplies and financial aid at Chattogram Medical College Hospital’s patient welfare association; financial support for business capital, loan repayment, auto-rickshaw purchases, foreign travel, fish farming, poultry farming, CNG auto-rickshaw purchases, irrigation pump acquisition, computer provision, brick-breaking machines, livestock farming, plough purchases, sewing machines, fishing nets and boat purchases, purchase of used motor vehicles; support in education, bride marriages, house construction, and healthcare.
  • Empowering rural women by distributing two goats each as a source of livelihood.

Emergency relief and aid initiatives:

  • Assistance to Rohingya refugees during emergencies; support to victims injured in the devastating fire at Sitakunda BM Depot; aid to flood victims in Sylhet, Sunamganj, Chandanai, and Satkania.
  • Recently, rescue operations for flood-affected displaced people in Fatikchhari, providing shelter and aid at relief centers; distribution of food and relief materials among over 10,000 affected families stranded by floods in Hathazari, Sitakunda, Feni, Comilla, Brahmanbaria, and Akhaura.

This fund continues to play a crucial role in humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and social welfare efforts across vulnerable communities.
